Introduction

Introduction to Zolar.

Zolar is an access instrument for shielded ZEC. It is a Zcash wallet that runs entirely in your browser, keeps your funds in the Ironwood shielded pool, and is being built into a proof system that makes what you hold readable by programs on Solana. Your ZEC never moves and nothing is wrapped, so there is only ever one copy of your value.

Features

Zolar makes shielded ZEC useful without ever unshielding it, and it does that through six panels. They are named here the way the app names them, and each one holds a single job.

PROVE

Prove one Ironwood note is worth at least an amount, without saying which note it is

VERIFY

The reader's side of a proof, and the one panel that never asks for a wallet

SEND

Pay another Zolar user, addressed by their Solana account rather than a Zcash address

RECEIVE

Take payment at your Solana account, and hold what arrives shielded

Scoped viewing key

Show an auditor what came in, inside a date range they cannot walk out of

Prove one payment landed, without handing over a key that keeps reading afterwards

Read the 512-byte encrypted note that rode along with a payment you received

Anchor status

The tree state a proof is built against, what the attester set posted, and how old it is

PROVE builds a proof in the browser and stops there, because nothing carries one to Solana yet. What a proof does and does not say is on The circuit, and every panel or entry above that has no machine behind it appears on the Roadmap as work.

Properties

These are true whether or not you press anything. Where the browser has to reach outside itself, the card says so and says what that party never sees.

Keys Stay In Your Browser

The seed is generated and encrypted on your device

No Accounts, No Database

Nothing about you is stored on any server

One Thin Relay

A browser cannot reach a Zcash node, so one binary carries the queries and never the keys

Oracle Pricing

The dollar figure comes from an on-chain oracle, not a website

Encrypted, Not Derived

The signature that unlocks the seed never derives it, and the twenty-four words open it without any account

Ironwood Only

Funds sit in the formally verified pool, and that is the only pool the circuit proves
